Wiltshire Council Elections -Nominated Persons for Cricklade and Latton, Cricklade Town Council Elections May 2nd. 2013

Contested elections will take place for both  the Unitary and Cricklade Town Council  a poll will be taken on Thursday 2 May 2013 between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 pm.

Fritillary Watch – 8th April 2013
REPORT –  the ground conditions on the meadow are very muddy and slippery in places. There are a few fritillary shoots just showing but no flowers have been sighted. The Reserve Manager advises that visitors should delay their visit the meadow until the ground conditions have improved. The prolonged and unusual level of flooding and the recent cold weather makes it difficult to predict the timing and success of the fritillary season this year.
Guided walks for 13th & 14th April have been cancelled; instead the Reserve Manager will give an illustrated talk
‘A year in North Meadow’ 2pm 13th 14th April in the Fritillary Tea Rooms at the Town Bridge.
Cream teas and refreshments available from 1.30 till 4pm.

Visitors and walkers will be greeted, and if the weather is poor, illustrated talks may be given in the Tea Rooms .

Cricklade Widower – 80-year-old Barbara Tabel all set for parachute jump

logoA PARTIALLY-sighted great grandmother is CrickladeOpenDoorLogo1planning a charity freefall parachute jump just six months after a life-threatening illness.

In a fortnight’s time, Barbara Tabel, 80, will be harnessed to an instructor before the pair leap from an aircraft about two miles above Wanborough.
They’ll reach about 200 mph before their parachute opens at 5,000 feet.
Widowed Mrs Tabel, who lives in Cricklade, has five children, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and an eighth on the way.

Temporary road closure – Bath Road, Cricklade – Wiltshire Council Order.

MenatWork01Temporary Closure of: Bath Road (Part), Cricklade (Ref: A3/JJC/13/15)
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all traffic on Bath Road (Part), Cricklade; from its junction with B4040 High Street in a westerly direction for a distance of approximately 150 metres to a point adjacent Heberden House.
To enable: Wales and West Utilities to replace gas main and services.
Alternative Route: Via High Street – B4040 Common Hill – West Mill Lane – Bath MenatWork01Road (unaffected length) and  vice versa.
The closure will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.
These works will commence on 18 March 2013 and it is anticipated that the works will take three weeks to complete. The Order will have a maximum duration of 18 months.
