Wiltshire Council Elections -Nominated Persons for Cricklade and Latton, Cricklade Town Council Elections May 2nd. 2013

Contested elections will take place for both  the Unitary and Cricklade Town Council  a poll will be taken on Thursday 2 May 2013 between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 pm.

Cricklade Appoints new Town Clerk – Charlotte Rogers-Jones from Chippenham

Charlotte Rogers-Jones01A FORMER RAF officer has been appointed town clerk of Cricklade.
Charlotte Rogers-Jones has taken over from Shelley Parker, who left the post in January to become town clerk of Marlborough.
Charlotte, who lives in Chippenham, believes her main challenge is creating opportunities for ‘community enhancement’.
“The big topic at the minute is neighbourhood planning which is about the town enforcing planning over the next 20 years,” she said.
Charlotte said the town aims to have as much consultations possible with residents and stakeholders over the next few months, to hear their views on tourism, traffic, planning, housing and employment.

Temporary road closure – Bath Road, Cricklade – Wiltshire Council Order.

MenatWork01Temporary Closure of: Bath Road (Part), Cricklade (Ref: A3/JJC/13/15)
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all traffic on Bath Road (Part), Cricklade; from its junction with B4040 High Street in a westerly direction for a distance of approximately 150 metres to a point adjacent Heberden House.
To enable: Wales and West Utilities to replace gas main and services.
Alternative Route: Via High Street – B4040 Common Hill – West Mill Lane – Bath MenatWork01Road (unaffected length) and  vice versa.
The closure will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.
These works will commence on 18 March 2013 and it is anticipated that the works will take three weeks to complete. The Order will have a maximum duration of 18 months.

Cricklade Town Council’s Clerk – Shelly Parker has accepted the position of Clerk to Marlborough’s Town Council next Month

Shelley Parker will be taking up the position of Marlborough’s town clerk next month, following the unexpected death of Derek Wolfe in September.

Mrs Parker, who is in her early 50s, has most recently worked as Cricklade’s town clerk and has a wealth of experience.

Between 1984 and 2003, she worked in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for the diplomatic service.

She held various postings, both Whitehall-based and in British embassies and high commissions abroad, including Moscow, Paris and Islamabad.

During these years in the diplomatic service, she worked on management and commercial operations and dealt with various specialised consular and immigration services.

A Very Cricklade Christmas on Saturday 1st. December 2012 from 6.30pm. in the High Street – Father Christmas is arriving.

Father Christmas will be arriving in Cricklade on Saturday December 1st after the Switching on the Lights, singing with the 4/4 Community Choir and Cricklade’s own Silver Band. There will be lots of fun and festivities.
