230 miles down the Thames

JOURNEY’S END: Celebrating after a 230-mile journey down the River Thames are Ivy Maddocks, Kristian Maddocks, Alex McLeese and Matthew Lowry. 

A PADDLING foursome from Barnstaple have completed a 230-mile trip along the River Thames in blow-up dinghies.

The self-proclaimed “crazy paddlers”, Alex McLeese, Matthew Lowry and Kristian and Ivy Maddocks, paddled from near the source of the Thames, near Cricklade, to Gravesend in ten-foot long rubber boats.

The two-week trip, which the group embarked on “just to do something different”, was to raise money for Help for Heroes.
