Cricklade wins Gold again this year 2010

Cricklade has been awarded  a GOLD  and won the Ayre Cup for the best small town in the 2010 Royal Horticultural Society’s South West In Bloom competition for the fourth year in a row.

In “It’s Your Neighbourhood” Awards, which recognises local group and community gardening the following were granted Outstanding : Abingdon Court Farm and the Bank Garden (behind the Town Council Offices). Others mentioned were the Fire Station, Fiddlers Allotment Association, the Jenner Hall, Cricklade Leisure Centre Gardeners, Parsonage Farm Close Residents Association, Police Garden Allotment and Thames Pre-School.

Anita Barratt, Chair of Cricklade Bloomers was presented with a “Special Community Champion” Award.

Cricklade is now looking forward to hearing the results of its entry into the Britain In Bloom national finals on September 29 – the town is the only one in Wiltshire to be competing and hopes to regain its title as “Best Small Town In Britain 2010”.
