Fritillary Watch – 8th April 2013
REPORT – the ground conditions on the meadow are very muddy and slippery in places. There are a few fritillary shoots just showing but no flowers have been sighted. The Reserve Manager advises that visitors should delay their visit the meadow until the ground conditions have improved. The prolonged and unusual level of flooding and the recent cold weather makes it difficult to predict the timing and success of the fritillary season this year.
Guided walks for 13th & 14th April have been cancelled; instead the Reserve Manager will give an illustrated talk
‘A year in North Meadow’ 2pm 13th 14th April in the Fritillary Tea Rooms at the Town Bridge.
Cream teas and refreshments available from 1.30 till 4pm.
If you have booked a guided walk with the Reserve Manager during April please check to see if the walks are still running contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 07795316191
Fritillaries will be very late – the Fritillary watch web page at http://www.crickladeinbloom.co.uk/fritillary_watch.html is updated regularly so people visiting can see if it is worth the journey.
