Cricklade is a quaint small town situated on the banks of the River Thames on the northern border of Wiltshire. The Centre of the town lies within what used to be a Saxon stronghold built by Alfred the Great to help defend the Kingdom of Wessex.

St Sampson’s Infant School in Cricklade is set to close.

Cricklade St Sampson’s Junior School governing body met on Tuesday 10th. and the infant school governing body on Wednesday 11th. December 2013 and both bodies voted unanimously to go to consultation on the motion for St Sampson’s Infant School to close and St Sampson’s CE Junior School to expand to become St Sampson’s CE Primary School, and the Junior School Governing Body also voted unanimously to go to consultation to expand the Junior School to form the new St Sampson’s CE Primary School.

 In this letter it is state that We ( The governors ) have now started working with Wiltshire Council and the Diocese of Bristol to make this procedure as quick as possible, and we envisage that the consultation process will start in the New Year. Please be assured that all stakeholders including parents, staff and the local community will be invited to take part in the consultation process which will include public meetings for views and questions to be raised. A record number of the Cricklade Health Walkers congregated at the Cricklade Town Council Offices at a later time of 10.30 am. on Friday the 13th. December 2013. The Walk was led by Rose for an hours walk which included the millennium woods. The weather was white/ dark clouds with a possibility of rain. Continue reading

Cricklade’s Health Walking Group celebrates its 2nd. Anniversary

Cricklade Health WalkingThe Cricklade  Health Walking Group celebrated their 2nd. anniversary by a walk through Waylands, Fairfield Meadow, Millenium woods , the Thames Path and over Eysey Bridge.
Returning to the United Church for refreshments.
A few members had baked some cakes for all and the four Walk Leaders were presented each with a special large jam/cream cake in appreciation of their voluntary efforts. Continue reading
