Police and Crime Commissioner consultation starts 6th. January – Monday 5th. February 2014

Angus1Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Wiltshire and Swindon Angus Macpherson is consulting on the police and crime element of council tax for 2014-15.
The Commissioner is considering an increase in the police and crime element of council tax of £3.15 a year for the average home (band D property). This to help reduce the impact of significant central government grant reductions on policing and crime services in Wiltshire and Swindon.

The consultation will run from Monday 6 January 2014 – Monday 3 February 2014. During this time the Commissioner and members of his office will be attending Wiltshire Council Area Boards and Swindon Borough Council Locality meetings to talk with people about the proposal.

Over the past 18 days, there has been four house burglaries which have been reported to us in the Cricklade area. Although some suspects have been arrested in connection with all four burglaries, the crimes are still being actively investigated by the Priority Crime Team from Swindon Gablecross Police station. If anyone has any information which can assist officers with their ongoing enquiries, please either contact us on 101 or you can make an anonymous report to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Can we ask the local residents of Cricklade to remain extra vigilant over the next few weeks and to report any suspicious activity to us by telephone – 101 non-emergency or 999 for an emergency.

Wiltshire PoliceWiltshire Police is appealing for information following a spate of burglaries in Cricklade and Purton.
In the last few weeks alone, there have been six reported dwelling burglaries within the two locations as a result of which a large amount of high value items have been stolen.
Property taken included; a silver Apple laptop, Samsung notebook, Medion notebook, Toshiba 15’’ black laptop, cameras, white ipod, Cannon EOS 7 D black camera, Playstaion 3 320 GB-slim, boxed JVC video camera, green Karrimor rucksack and a large number of items of jewellery. Continue reading

Wiltshire Police are asking Horse Riders in @Cricklade to wear flourescent Tabards

Wiltshire PolicePOLICE in Cricklade have received a number of reports of horse riders on the roads who cannot be seen due to the dark colour of their horses and clothing.
The police are asking riders to wear a fluorescent tabard.
Sergeant Martin Alvis said: “This important piece of clothing could save your life and the life of your horse.
“Collisions with cars and horses happen and the outcome is not pleasant.”
